Overview:  In the World's Fair Project unit you will explore in-depth one country of the eastern hemisphere. You will make an oral presentation on your country at the 6th Annual World's Fair Project held on March 13, 2003 at Edmund W. Miles Middle School. This in-depth multimedia project is in addition to our regular class work in Social Studies and English Language Arts. 

 

Objectives:  At the end of the World's Fair Project unit you will be able to (NYSED SS & ELA Learning Standards):

  • Speak knowledgeably about your country's educational system, government, geography, language, religion, culture and interesting attractions.

  • Make a brochure to give to visitors to your booth

  • Display a large Project Board illustrating the interesting facts about your country.

  • Write a business letter to the foreign embassy of your country requesting information.

  • Display pictures, food, music or artifacts of your country.

  • Dress in the native costume of your country.

  • Appreciate and respect the diversity of the countries of the world.

  • Write a report on your individual country.

  • Develop a Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation on your individual country, using the resources of the worldwide web.

  • Develop note-taking, research, speaking and outlining skills in completing this project.
