The presidential election will take place on November 7, 2000. It is important because, we need a president for our country so one person does not have too much power. The United States plays a large role in the world. It is the most powerful country in the world.

This year the candidates for president are Al Gore and George Bush. Al Gore is a Democrat and George Bush is a Republican. Bush is currently the Governor of Texas. Gore is presently the Vice President. 

The candidates have all of the proper qualifications to be a president. They are both over 35 years old. They are native born citizens of the U.S. and they have lived in the U.S. for over 14 years. 

Social Security is the money you get when you retire. The way it works is when you start to work money is added to your Social Security. When you retire you get a monthly check.

Al Gore’s position on Social Security is to keep the money safe in a lock box. George Bush’s position on Social Security is to use it in the stock market.
