“ Post Election 2000” by Felicia
December 2000

I think that the election this year was a big mess, because at first Bush gave Gore the state of Florida and then Bush took it back from him when Gore was leading.  I don’t think it wasn’t handled right, because Ms. Harris was the lady that decided whether the votes counted or not.  I don’t think that she judged it fair, because she is a Republican and I think that she was just waiting for Bush to win.

I think that they should have taken the votes over again, or just give it to Gore, because Bush gave it to him at first.  I think that once one of the two candidates running for president  gives the other a state , they cannot take it back.

Electing a president is an important aspect of American life, because it depends on the type of president that we get and whether the president makes good or bad choices.  The television media influences people, because a lot of people watch television.  It also influenced others, because every time something happens they interrupt us in anything that we are watching and tell us news about the election.

For this election the Supreme Court decided who would win the election, because it was talking too long and it also made history. This was the longest election out of all of the other elections.  This election took about 37 days.  The Supreme Court is the most powerful and highest Court in the United States. Lawyers were needed in this election, because they needed to defend the candidates.

For the election 2000 I voted for Al Gore.  I supported  Gore, because I think that he knew more about what he was doing than Bush did.  I also supported Gore, because I think that we need a young president to give us fresh ideas instead of an old man agreeing with everything that his father did.

After watching the election I now know a lot of important facts that I never knew before.  In the future when I am allowed to vote, and if I really think that someone deserves to win, I would want my vote to count.
