I
was not too fond of this year’s presidential election. I feel that it
was completed in a very disorganized way. I also don’t think that the
situation with counting the votes in Florida was handled properly. I
think that the votes in Florida should have been recounted. It would not
be fair to the other parties if they didn’t get the exact amount. One
vote can decide our future. Electing
a president is a very important aspect of American life. It is the
election that concludes who will be running America. This person will be
making decisions affecting all citizens. I
think that television media influenced the outcome of this election. I
think that this is so because television media made assumptions of who
would be our president. They started interviewing people right when they
came out of the voting booth. At 9:00 p.m. we were to tally up the votes
and announce who won. The media decided to say whom they believed won at
7:45 p.m. This influenced people not to vote because they thought that
we already had a president. If it weren’t for the media we would have
had a better election. The
Supreme Court in Florida also played a role in this election. They
settled the disputes between Gore and Bush. Also the National Supreme
Court ruled out the decision of the Florida Supreme Court answer. A
Supreme Court is a group of people who decides whether laws comply with
the Constitution. Along with the Supreme Court lawyers were also needed
in this election. Gore and Bush had lawyers to defend themselves for
their disagreements about how this election went about.
