CHAPTER 3

Sighing in relief, we left the arcade and began to head towards the now deserted exits.

“I’ve been wondering...” Sabrina started. “Where did those spider aliens come from?”

“I’ve been wondering the same thing.” I replied as we walked towards the exits.

Finally we came to the corridor where the mall exits were, but suddenly three spider aliens dropped from the ceiling above us.

Snarling, the aliens charged at us violently, knocking us to the floor.

Frantically, I tried to get to my feet but found out that I was pinned to the floor by one of the spider aliens who used its legs to pin me down.

I gasped for air, because the spider alien was standing on my chest and reached up to rip off one of the alien’s legs.

With green blood dripping from its stump, the spider alien staggered back and allowed me to get to my feet but attacked me again, this time ripping away my shirt in the process.

Whirling around, I saw that Anthony and Sabrina were having a hard time fending off the spider aliens so I fired several laser blasts into the aliens backs and turned to run into a gardening shop across the hall.

Anthony and Sabrina followed me into the store as I grabbed a can of spray paint and smashed open a large display case to grab a handful of plasma lighters.

“What are you about to do?” Sabrina asked me as I turned to run back out of the store.

“Something my uncle used to show me when I little.” I replied with a smirk.

When we ran out of the exit, the spider aliens were waiting for us and slashed at us with their hairy, but brittle legs.

All three of us fired our laser guns at the aliens, but they knocked the guns out of our hands and lunged at us with acid and webbing shooting from their mouths.

As Anthony and Sabrina scrambled for their weapons, I turned on the plasma lighter and sprayed a stream of paint into the flame.

With a loud whoosh, a fireball blasted from the paint can and immediately set one of the spider aliens on fire.

Engulfed in flames, the spider alien shrieked in agony and began to run around aimlessly, smashing into vendors and breaking storefront windows.

The other two spider aliens turned away from Anthony, and Sabrina, and fired streams of web into my eyes. After I dropped the spray paint and lighter, one of the aliens chomped down on my leg.

It seemed that right away my entire body began to feel numb and I fell to the floor with a thud.

In the blackness I could hear the spider aliens advancing towards me, but I could not do anything about it.

Suddenly there was a loud telltale discharge of laser gunfire and a sickening acrid smell that filled the air.

Bright lights pierced my eyes as Sabrina ripped away the webbing that covered my eyes.

“How did you manage to get your laser gun back?” I asked Sabrina.

“I picked it up.” Sabrina said regarding me coldly.

“What’s with the attitude?” I asked Sabrina.

“You just asked me how I managed to get my laser gun back, and I saw that as an extremely stupid question.” Sabrina said angrily.

Ignoring her ignorance I turned to Anthony.

“I think we’d better get out of here before any more of those spider aliens attack us again.” I said to him as he kicked at the dead corpses of the spider aliens.

“I strongly agree.” Anthony said turning towards the exit doors.

Sabrina gave me a blank look when we pushed open the doors to leave the mall, so I gave her the same blank stare and stepped out into the now cool evening air where a large crowd of people stood.

Finally we had escaped the mall with no idea what was in store next, and we had no idea where the spider aliens had come from.

We did figure however, that this was not the last time we would see the spider aliens, and believe me, it was not the last time we saw them.

As a matter of fact, we never did get home that night, because we ran into more spider aliens.
