Thanks to the effort of Ms. Maccarone, and all the music teachers and students, they were able to make the Winter Concert the first but yet the best one ever in the history of the Edmund W. Miles Middle School, and it was worth fighting for!

The band of an estimated 50 students played from swinging jazz to a march, while the previous performers sang or played calm and moderate types of songs. While listening to these musical groups, you can surely say that their conductors did a good job training them. They gave all they had during this night, and played like they never did before. It was a concert to be remembered!

Afterwards, Mrs. Carroll thanked the 6th grade performers for giving the audiences a splendid time, but as for us, we would like to thank Ms. Maccarone, Mr. Garcia, and Ms. Carton for not giving up on us so quickly and for encouraging us that we can succeed.

Some people like Mrs. Gatling, an honors teacher, was one of the proud audience members in the concert and complimented the band, orchestra, and chorus saying that they were the best that she had seen in a million years, and that they were fabulous! Nelly, a former band student said, "I think that we did very well although we made some minor mistakes, but on top of that, I believe that we were great." Jennifer, one of the best flute players also added that the band was extraordinary, but she hoped that they would do a little bit better in the future events such as NYSSMA, where the band would compete for a gold medal. Stephanie, an orchestra player thought that her group did well, but it was hard to tell since she was one of the people on the stage.

Hopefully, this concert influenced the up-coming concerts, and that it will determine whether or not there will be another 6th Grade Winter Concert next year. So, I hope you agree with our truthful opinion, and the next time you listen to them, I hope that you will have the same point of view as I do.
