First Assembly

September,2001

The purpose of the assembly was for the children to learn about respect.  Some of the compliments that Mr. Jackson gave us were about the uniforms and the first three days of school.

The school wide theme is about respect. The sixth grade has the largest amount of kids throughout the school. In order to be on the academic clubs or sports, you can’t fail two or more subjects.

When Mr. Jackson said that we should have choices and have respect he meant that we have to have respect for others and respect for ourselves.  He also mentioned that we have choices of friends. If they don’t have respect for you then you don’t need that type of friend.

A superintendent’s suspension is if you do something really bad and you can get it by bringing a weapon to school.

Mr. Gonser talked to us and he told us about five tests that we are going to take.  The regents is a test you have to take in order to graduate from high school. He also told us about fighting and he said and she said. He told us not to believe gossip because it is not true.

To follow these rules I am going to do well in school and respect others.  We need these rules to follow instruction and have respect for others. Later, as we get older, we are going to need this advice that Mr. Jackson gave us the other day.
