Overview:  In the Black History unit you will explore why Carter G. Woodson started the study of Black History in our nations schools. You will identify important contributors to Black History.

Objectives:  At the end of the Black History  unit you will be able to (SS & ELA):

1.   Explain the reasons for studying Black History.

2.   Identify famous and not so famous African Americans who have made important contributions to American society.

3.   Develop and present a Black History Project.

4.   Interview a classmate using the pc camera on their Black History Project

5.   Describe the video presentations we've seen concerning Black History.

6.   Develop a  PowerPoint slide presentation on the Father of Black History, Dr. Carter G. Woodson
