Overview:  In the Ancient World I - Mesopotamia & Egypt unit you will explore the origin of civilization from Mesopotamia to ancient Egypt and the eight parts of speech.

 

Objectives:  At the end of the Ancient World I - Mesopotamia & Egypt  unit you will be able to (SS & ELA):

1.  list the characteristics of a civilization  and locate Mesopotamia and  ancient Egypt on a map.

2.   explain why writing was important to the development of a civilization.

3.   describe the importance of the Nile to Egypt.

4.   describe the role of the pharaoh in ancient Egypt.

5.   list the contributions of the ancient Egyptians.

6.   explain how we have come to understand the meaning of Egyptian hieroglyphics.

7.   identify people, geographical features and define vocabulary of Mesopotamia and Egypt.

8.   define vocabulary and terms from  novel, The Golden Goblet

9.   review and correctly use the eight parts of speech and Lesson 2 spelling words

10. describe the accomplishments of ancient Israel's great leaders
