Overview:  In the Ancient World III - Rome unit you will explore the influences of Roman government, law. religion and architecture that are still apparent throughout Western civilization. 

 

Objectives:  At the end of the Ancient World III - Rome  unit you will be able to (SS & ELA):

1.   Describe the government of the Roman republic. Write letters to your  President  Congressman, Senator,  State Senator and Mayor, (bicameral system) Writing Your Representative Project (ELA)

2.   Explain why the Romans formed a republic. Identify historic  Roman figures

3.   Discuss the cause and outcome of the Punic War. Place Spartacus in his historical context.


4.   Identify the builders of the Roman Empire and their accomplishments

5.   Describe the Byzantine Empire


6.   Describe what life was like in a Roman city. Describe the rise of Christianity and its implications for the Roman leaders.


7.   Use and define the vocabulary terms. Write essays on the life and example of Spartacus.  ELA 

8.   Black History Project -ELA Present an in-depth portrait of  an African American and their contribution to American society.


9.   World's Fair Project - ELA- Make a brochure, develop an in-depth PowerPoint Presentation on your country, write note cards, outline your written report on  your individual country of the eastern hemisphere.


10. Use the digital camera to interview and photograph your classmates presentations of African Americans who've contributed to American society.
