Overview:  In the Ancient World II - Greece unit you will explore  the literature and Greek civilization that developed along the eastern Mediterranean Sea.

 

Objectives:  At the end of the Ancient World II - Greece  unit you will be able to (SS & ELA):

1.   Explain the difference between myth and history.

2.   Describe the role of the gods and goddesses in Greek life.

3.   Describe the concept of the city-state and compare Athenian and Spartan life.

4.   Examine the concepts of direct and indirect democracy.

5.   Describe the achievements of Alexander the Great.

6.   Define specific vocabulary and identify philosophers of this time. Write Holiday essays.

7.   Write essay on "One Person Can Make a Difference" Alexander the Great, Socrates, Aristotle and Martin Luther King Jr. -ELA

8.   Compare and contrast contributors to Ancient Greece and Dr. King's contributions to the world. -ELA

9.   Identify Greek architecture and its place in society.

10. Read literature chronicling the period and write your own myth or epic poem. - ELA
