The "First Assembly" Essay represents one of the earliest English Language Arts writing assignments of the school year.  It was assigned to the "newest" middle school students entering sixth grade to assess their writing skills.  Students were asked to write a descriptive essay summarizing the important points covered during the first formal school assembly of the year.
